IS300 Running Costs- 1 Year On
Thought I'd give a quick update on the IS300 I bought last April.
I bought it with less than 4 weeks MOT and allthough the price reflected that, its always an unknown when buying a 2nd hand car.
It passed the MOT but it had an advisory on one of the rear suspension struts- light oil misting. The unit was fine so a replacement wasnt sourced.
Fast forward to today when it had its 2nd MOT in my ownership...
Needed the 2 bulbs for the number plate light- thats all, no mention of any work needed on the rear suspension at all.
So, in terms of my 13 months of ownership (aside from fuel), its cost me 2 MOTS, £1.48 on bulbs, a new battery £46 (from Lexus), and an oil service.
Must say I'm very pleased with that. Of course, next on my list in the next 5k miles is a service and cambelt, but I can live with that as that wont be for another 6 months.
A great (touch wood) example of Lexus/Toyota reliability....

You have absolutely no idea how many miles you get from a tank? Am I the only one who keeps a trip for each tank? :p
well the IS200 is terrible, I'm under the impression that the IS300 is actually better. It would make sense as the 2JZ is a more efficient engine.
well I usually find the amount of miles I get from a tank is a good indicator of how wrong things are going
Plus I've been keeping track of it while adding various modifications.
