Well as some of you know i've been having a few problems with fuel in my motor, and have been averaging around 8mpg over the past few weeks Confusedcared:
Which was making my skyline a bit too expensive for me to use like i really wanted to, with funds being really low at the moment? :crying:

Before i fitted the silicone vacuum hoses it was averaging around 16-25mpg which to me wasn't to bad and let me drive it more,

So on Friday i thought i'd swap all the red silicone hoses back to the oem set and gave the apexi filter a really good soak in filter cleaner, and let it dry out over night,
Yesterday I refitted the filter and did the same trip that i'd done on Wednesday (returned 8mpg and 16 miles to £10) to see if it had made any difference and i even drove it a bit harder this time to see if the mpg would be lower

This time on the same amount of fuel i managed to get 45 miles out of £10, from the light coming on to light coming on again, which to me is a great improvement, so at the moment its doing around 20.5 mpg

Would never have thought the vac hoses would of made that much difference to how the car ran? after a good run the red silicone hoses were like very soft rubber bands and must of been closing up under pressure stopping air moving from one point to the next making it over fuel?? :Shooting:

The RB25 engine produces a lot of heat which i know anyway, but looking at the silicone hoses its actually started to cook them which did suprise me a bit, so now looks like i need to go out and get some nice reinforced hoses to stop them collapsing under pressure :Chair:

But a bit happier at the moment with the 20+mpg again, so the skyline will be staying for a little bit longer, being as I had been thinking of selling it in the next few weeks :thumbup1: might even go for another IS200

Good news that you've sorted the problem. I don't know too much about how it all works, but I would have thought that if it was getting less air in then it would get less fuel too ? But I suppose that depends on which stage of the fuelling it's at for that, if it's already decided to put a certain amount of fuel in and then the right amount of air doesn't come I guess it can overfuel ?

Well done for sorting it though :thumbup1:

Yes mate its a bit of an odd one, the cars tuned to run a bit rich anyway but the past few days i've been getting quite a heavy fuel smell from the exhaust, like its pouring out if it? but seems better now?

Going to give it a good service asap and give the plugs a good clean/swap too as its now due for one which should help
