Well its about time that i started a project page for this build!

as some of you may already know ive decided to go down the 1jz route, I have got too use to the power of my IS and defently want something knocking on 500bhp next year! now i was tempted to sell up and buy a BMW E60 M5! but after a bit of thinking! (about 6 months!) ive decided i cant give up on boost just yet!! or the flack id get for owning a BMW :Bazza: haha

Here is a basic run down on the plans! the bulk starting straight after JAE! as thats the last important show of the year IMO!

- Complete 1JZ convertion with 5Sp R154 gearbox
- Big single turbo convertion with completely new exhaust setup, Fueling, Standalone ECU etc etc!!
-Repainting engine bay completely gloss instead of the matt finish
- LSD!!
- and if there is money left a mahoosive brake convertion!

The aim is for 500bhp+ sleeper!!

---------------

Well first off i got myself a very good condition 94' 1jz-gte from a Auto Soarer!! Only damage ive found from storage was the cam cover and powersteering pulley was bent.... shame but got it very cheap!

next i decided to remove the turbos so i can check them and put them up for sale as going for the big single! These turbos sold straight away!!.

Removed the cam cover to check cambelt over, Hydro fan pully and aux belt. the plan is to replace the water pump, remove the aircon, change the cams to HKS adjustables and HKS Cambelt!, single T3 turbo manifold with G S Racing HX35 turbo! (650BHP rating) along with the usual goodies!

Removed the aircon pump, The powersteering pump is supported by this so a custom bracket was needed. I wasnt too bothered about selling the pump so i took it apart and made a frankenstine style mount from its remains! works a treat!

Got the Hydro fan off and removed the belt. Removed the inlet manifold ready for my injectors etc. at the moment im planning on 850cc sards! with uprated pumps!

Now this next step is very important if your planning to do this build and replace the cambelt!(which you should seeing as its out IMO) The crankshaft pulley bolt is torqued to levels you would not beleive!! ive heard storys of people putting a breaker bar on it and cranking the motor!!(which obivously i cant do just yet!) i wedged the auto flywheel with a bar and used impact guns! breaker bars! a couple of lads on the end and nothing! its well known to be a right pain in the ****!!

i ended up getting it undone be using a ghetto style 5 ft pole on the end of the bar and she was away!! nightmare!!

Tarted it up with a bit of engine block black paint! nice n tidy Wink

I sourced my R154 gearbox for quite sometime! so rare and most wanted silly money! but got a bargin priced one along with loads of goodies such as flywheel, standard clutch(which is no good for me!!) starter, slave cylinder, propshaft! was well chuffed! Its from a turbo supra so its the 7M-GTE Bellhousing.

After seeing that ellz was abandoning his 1jz build i managed to twist his arm for some cash + love to let me have some of parts! i got the JZ bellhousing, front sump convertion(which you need to clear the subframe! as this soarer version is a mid sump!) and one GS Inlet side engine mount!

now i wasnt to sure about these mounts i was defently temped with IS300 mounts but seeing as i got one of the GS from ellz ive decided to just find one more!

Next thing is to put the front sump on Smile

i look forward to updating this page to hopefully give everyone a idea on the swap as theres a fair few people out there who have it done but no solid build on one! work will be a bit slow untill after JAE as want the car for that! and ive got a holiday to the states to fund before that

Best of luck with this monster build.

spent sometime after work removing the mid sump from the 1jz to replace it with the front sump, looked forward to this as its the first time i can have a good look inside the block.

Removed the sump pan, baffle plate etc etc and it looks very tidy in there.

can defently tell from the gold its had a easy life! as these tend to go blacker with wear!.

i then realised im missing the new baffle plate! doh! no worries i fort. so i sealed the alley sump plate on and test fited the rest. looking good!!

i also test fitted the GS Engine mount and found that the longest original engine mount bolt was nowhere near long enough to pass through and grip! so il get two of these ordered from toyota. another helpful bit of information to jot down if you doing this build!.

Also banged on my JZ Bellhousing. fits nicely on the R154 Wink

going well so far!!
