Lexus CT200H
Lexus CT200H
When Lexus debuted its first dedicated hybrid, the HS 250h, the automotive world was less than blown away by its 35 mpg combined mileage rating. That’s why our hopes weren’t really high for the more sports-oriented CT 200h. It promises more driving thrills, but that means worse mileage, right?
Nope. The CT 200h, which uses a modified version of the same parallel hybrid system in the Toyota Prius, will achieve 42 mpg combined, Lexus says. The Prius gets 50 mpg combined, while the recently released Honda CR-Z sports hybrid gets 37 mpg combined. The 42 mpg figure is the second-highest mileage of any hybrid on the market. The CT 200h also packs about 400 more pounds than the Honda Insight, which gets 41 mpg combined.
While a zero-to-60 mph time of 9.8 seconds sure doesn’t sound fast, that doesn’t mean the CT 200h will be a snoozer. The company promises a number of selectable driver settings to alter driving dynamics for those who want a sportier drive versus those who just want to go where they want to on as little gas as possible.
The CT 200h goes on sale in the first quarter of 2011.

parthiban Seems a bit silly to only sell them in one colour :tongue_smilie:
Seriously though that should be interesting, wonder what they'll introduce in the Lexus range - perhaps one will be a hybrid IS, what will be the other, maybe a hybrid sports car replacement for the SC?

CAR Magazine have tested the CT200h this month (November 2010).
Summary is they say it's kinda mixed-up. Not really the "hot hatch" that Lexus try to position it as, but pretty good if you approach it as a Prius alternative.
