1JZ Powered IS200!!
1JZ Powered IS200!!
Update
Got quite a big update for you all to catch up on, havent found the time to sit down and continue the progress on but here goes!!
I went ahead and ordered another inlet side GS300 mount, 2jz waterpump and nesscery bits n bobs. which arrived very quickly but paid the cost... :Shooting:
next i went and brought a daily run about for while i build my IS. ended up with a 106 1.4 diesel big pimpin!!
Once the lexus had been sorn'd i went about stripping it and ripping the engine out!
sorry for the **** quality photos its from a iphone!!
Here she comes!
On the floor
Engine sold within 2 days!! so that didnt sit around for long!
I had heard so many stories about mounts etc etc for this swap but because its not written in stone anywhere it was a unkown task! ive been told gs300 inlet mounts drop it in other say it doesnt work and to do this that and this!! well i put the mounts on and straight away found out the mounts didnt fit over the IS rubber mounts, i got these machine down by a local machine shop and went on.
problem is its not a straight drop in on GS300 mounts, dont let anyone tell you otherwise!! even with the front sump setup it does not clear the cross member!! it sits very low and far back which is all good but nowhere near clear! so a bit of modifying later we lowered the 1jz in for the test fitment!
Once i was happy with the engine setup i dropped the engine in with the box to align it all up with the rear mount! this mount is going to be a pain because other swaps have used a V160 box instead of the R154 im using. the original IS200 mount is no use at all and the R154 mount is well out! so the plan is to fabricate something up this week.
then i received another little bundle of goodies!, another 1jz with complete R154 running gear and shed loads of bits!!
next item to address is the rear engine/gearbox mount to finally get the engine sitting for the final time! progress to come!
:w00t:
Keep us posted Sam
So is the second engine just for spares ??
And Sam when do you think it will be back on the road ?
Looks good sam, the engine looks a good low and back fitment.
cheers peeps, emmm want it back on the road begining of next year. no point having it out over the winter and gives me time to build it all up. the 2nd engine atm is just a back up if i have issues but may either become spares, uprated rebuild or sold for cash monies
next item to address is the rear engine/gearbox mount to finally get the engine sitting for the final time!
is that where the second engines going? twin powered 1jz, now that would be mental.
Made up a gearbox mount earilier in the week so it all sits in the car on its own supports now! next item is a prop shaft! the supra one is waaaaay to short and the IS one reaches nicely but is the wrong spline. i would swap them over but the yoke is different. doh!!
going to need to have one made up for me. anyone know of a decent place in buckinghamshire?
yea there was a place in Luton, but can't remember the name??
