My Lexus IS250 SE-L
My Lexus IS250 SE-L
After selling my Skyline I decided to get something much more tame and comfortable. The truth is that I always liked the IS200 but having seen the IS250's interior I couldn't resist and went to buy one.
It's a black 2006 model, SE-L trim with all the goodies except Navigation but hey ho. I wanted an auto but ended-up getting a manual which I kind of regret, the manual box and dual-mass flywheel is not to my liking. The auto is so smooth in comparison. On the plus side, it has all the modern gadgets such as factory HID's, auto wipers, auto lights, memory leather seats, illuminated scuff plates, electric rear privacy screen, trip computer etc...
It's a really nice car to drive, the V6 engine is very smooth and quiet.
This is how the car looked a week after I bought it:
Since there's no cure yet for the common modding bug, I started by swapping all interior bulbs with LED's. The fake wood was getting on my nerves too so I wrapped it in fake carbon fibre (3M Di-Noc):
Last week I installed a Joe-Z blue intake pipe (got it from http://www.l-tunedparts.com), K&N drop in filter and painted the engine cover:
The Joe-Z intake pipe replaced the nasty rubber one but keeps the original air filter box which is very well designed and is a true cold air intake.
I also got a IS-F style front grille and plastidip'ed the chrome grille surround:
The rear "L" badge has been plastidip'ed too as well as the chrome "Lexus" and "IS 250" badges.
The stock 4300k Philips HID bulbs were swapped for a pair of 5000k Morimoto bulbs from The Retrofit Source. These give a much colder white light and are as bright as OEM bulbs. The sidelights were changed to Osram Ledriving LED bulbs which are very bright and very well built. Main beam bulbs were changed to Osram Nightbreaker Plus. Need to change the fog light bulbs now...
I had the rear windows tinted the first week I got it...
That's it for now, I'll be updating this thread every now and then
Love it mate! I love how these Lexus' are styled, now you just need to drop it on coilovers and get some crazy dish alloys
some nice touches mate!
Very nice, what do you think of the Joe-Z intake pipe? As I've been looking at them for when I get my IS250
I've been ignoring the SE-L version because I don't like the wood, but it looks much better with the di-noc. Still hard to find one that doesn't have cream leather though.
Nice car. I hate the dinoc interior though, fastest way to make your trim look cheap. Will be interested to see what people start doing with these now they are becoming affordable.
