Well today

I was excited as my bonnet arrived

so I decided to join bits of the car together...

Raidator to the fans
Radiator Theromstat
Radiator bungs.
plugged in the wiring

Plugged the wiring in... started car and a "pop" noise... everything goes off no lights, so i turn the ignition off and recheck battery terminals..
and put key in, car turns over and starts!

Now on my dash I have
ABS light solid on
Engine check light on
TRC light flashing..

so I let the car warm up and the top pipe gets warm alittle..
but the bottom pipe is solid cold..

I also heard a intermitant tap/tick noise.. (couldnt figure out where it was comming from)

anyone got anyideas ?

Thermostat faulty?

Check it by boiling a kettle and put the 'stat in and see if it opens?????

the thermostat is at the top.

you may have air in the system.

did you find the reason for the pop?
Have you rechecked the water level?

Well, it was getting dark, I looked around.. and couldnt see anything.
it could have been fuel in the cylinder heads.. when it did start.. it smelt of petrol! but after a short while the smelt went away.

I have checked water level. its full to the max!

Isnt it a self bleeding system ?
